Our place
If there is only one God or Energy or Force driving this universe, then there is no way that one person can comprehend or even hear what it encompasses. This simple fact is well illustrated by the many religions that have gods who cannot be seen or heard without causing the death of the beholder: Artemis for the Greeks, Yahweh for the Jews or God for the Christians; I’m sure there are others. The movie Dogma makes a good joke about it: “Humans do not have the psychological or physical capacity to hear the voice of God. We went through five Adams before we figured that one out.” (I quote from memory). So the claim by anybody that they understand what God wants in a practical manner is obviously deluded. Who in the world do you think you are to claim to understand God, know what God wants or likes and who He will punish or reward for our petty little lives.
We are so insignificant that I wouldn’t be sure that God, even if he was a consciousness in the sense we are accustomed to think of (which is doubtful), has noticed that we were there yet. I wouldn’t be in too much of a hurry either; one tends to notice the trouble makers first.
